The UMKC Conservatory is pleased to announce that undergraduate composition and cello student Alex Williams has won first prize in the 2018 UMKC Chamber Music Composition Competition. His piece Heat for tuba, drum set, and piano (2017) was performed at the March 8, 2018 Musica Nova concert at the UMKC Conservatory's White Recital Hall.
DMA (composition) student Ben Stevenson won second place with Second Line for tuba and percussion. His piece was also performed by Musica Nova.
