Conservatory's Southpaw Quartet Takes Third Place

The UMKC Conservatory is pleased to share that the saxophone Southpaw Quartet took third place in the North American Saxophone Alliance Quartet Competition.  They were among 20 quartets competing at the NASA Biennial Conference in Cincinnati, OH, March 6–8, 2018.  The students study with saxophone faculty Zachary Shemon.

The Southpaw Quartet students are Patrick Olmos (AC), Walt Puyear (Junior, BM), Jared Marble (Junior, BM/BME) Chase Shumsky (Junior BM/BME)

The Eleventh Hour Quartet, Rick Firestone (DMA) Mariah Goulet (MM) Thomas Kurtz (MM) Vince Buzzelli (MM) also competed and performed well!
