Musicology Faculty Alison DeSimone Wins Travel Grant

The Conservatory is pleased to note that Assistant Professor of Musicology Alison DeSimone is the 2018 recipient of the American Musicological Society's Cohen/RIPM Fund Travel Grant, for research based on the musical press.  Dr. Simone will use the grant to support, in part, her research trip to London, Summer 2018.  The funds will support her research pertaining to the fifth chapter of her monograph, The Power of Pastiche: Musical Miscellany and the Creation of Cultural Identity in Early Eighteenth-Century London, which surveys and analyzes the use of the term "miscellany" in early musical criticism of the 18th century, and shows how this term morphed in critical meaning and value by the turn of the 19th century.

Congrats!
