Volker Brass Wins Third at MTNA

The Conservatory is pleased to note that Volker Brass:  UMKC Graduate Fellowship Brass Quintet took 3rd in the MTNA National Chamber Competition. They were the first brass quintet in many years to win an award at the national level. Volker Brass is Meagan Conley, trumpet; Andrew Stadler, trumpet; Maria Nyikos, horn; Brent Mead, trombone; Ryan Snell, tuba.

Of the top 12 chamber groups listed by the Fiscoff Competition (arguably the leading chamber competition), three of them are UMKC groups, the Saxophone Quartet, Plaza Winds: UMKC Graduate Fellowship Woodwind Quintet, and Volker Brass. 20% of the top young chamber groups in the international competition are from UMKC.

Congrats!
