The UMKC Conservatory is pleased to note that Hong Hong Gianakon (DMA, Composition, MM, Music Theory, 2018) (who also plays the pipa) has won the 2018 Gerald Kemner Orchestra Composition Competition. Her work, Three Portraits of Pipa for pipa and orchetra will premiere at the UMKC Conservatory Orchestra's annual Concerto/Aria Winners Concert, Spring 2019.
