The Conservatory dance division hosted Michele Gifford (former New York City Ballet dancer) September 2018. Gifford was a guest artist teaching master classes and teaching some of the dance students the choreography of a pas de deux by Christopher Wheeldon. Mr. Wheeldon is one of the preeminent and most sought-after choreographers of our time. He is an Artistic Associate of the Royal Ballet, former Resident Choreographer of NYC Ballet, and had his own company for a while.
What is remarkable about studying Wheeldon's work first hand is that the specific pas de deux Conservatory students learned has never before been allowed to be staged on a university group. San Francisco Ballet, Oregon Ballet Theatre, The Washington Ballet and other professional companies have performed the full work – but never a university. This exciting pas de deux will be part of the program of the Conservatory's Fall Dance concert October 25–27, 2018, White Recital Hall.
Don't miss it!
