New Teaching Appointments

Congratulations to our alumni who have earned teaching positions

Stephen Ahrens (BM, music composition, BME, ’19) was named the Assistant High School Orchestra Director and 5th grade strings teacher in the Olathe School District, Olathe, KS.

Robert Battle (BME, ‘11), K-5 Elementary Music, Filmore Arts Center, Washington D.C.

Alaina Bottini (BME, ’19) will serve as the K-5 Vocal Music and General Music Teacher at Eureka Elementary in the Rockwood School District, St. Louis, MO.

Christina Butera (DMA, composition, ’18) will serve as Lecturer, Composition and Music Technology, Spelman College, Atlanta, GA

Dustin Cates (PhD, music education) was appointed Assistant Professor of Choral Music Education at Temple University, Philadelphia, PA.

Stanislav Golovin (DMA, clarinet performance, ’18) was appointed Assistant Professor of Clarinet at the University of Akron, OH.

Kowoon Lee (DMA, piano performance) was named Adjunct Assistant Professor of Music at Cottey College, Nevada, MO.

John Livingston (BM, piano performance, ‘17) Staff Pianist, Avila University, Kansas City, MO.

Lorissa Mason (DMA, conducting, ’19) is appointed Director of Choral Activities at the University of Arkansas, Little Rock’s Department of Music.

Kealie O’Brien (BME, ’19) accepted a position as Choral Director at Pleasant Hill Middle School, Pleasant Hill, MO.

Leah Owen (BME, ’19) will serve as the Associate Choir Director for Lee’s Summit High School in the Lee’s Summit R7 School District, Lee’s Summit, MO.

Elena Rogers (BME, ’18) Elementary Music Educator, Longfellow Elementary, Kansas City, MO

Emily Schaefer (DMA, horn performance, ’19) was appointed as new Assistant Teaching Professor of Horn at East Carolina University, Greenville, NC.

Corey Seapy (DMA, conducting, ’19) was named Director of Bands at Millikin University’s School of Music, Decatur, IL.

Adam VanPelt (BME, ’19) was appointed as the Elementary Music Teacher at Westview Elementary, Olathe School District, Olathe, KS.

Luis Víquez (DMA, orchestral conducting, ’17) was invited to join the faculty at the University of Costa Rica School of Music as a Visiting Professor of Chamber Music for Summer, 2019.
