UMKC Conservatory Welcomes Piano Faculty Christopher Madden

The UMKC Conservatory is pleased to announce that Dr. Christopher Madden joins the Conservatory as Assistant Professor of Piano Pedagogy, Fall 2019. Dr. Madden is currently an Assistant Professor of Piano Pedagogy at Texas Woman's University, where he teaches applied piano, piano pedagogy, and class piano. His playing has earned him numerous scholarships and grants, allowing him to perform in festivals and master classes throughout the United States and Italy. He has presented research at several national conferences, including the National Conference on Keyboard Pedagogy, Group Piano/Piano Pedagogy Forum, Collegiate Piano Pedagogy Symposium, and Music Teachers National Association national conference. Dr. Madden's dedication to teaching was recognized at the University of Oklahoma, where he was nominated for the university-wide Provost's Graduate Teaching Award. Apart from collegiate-level teaching, Dr. Madden is also interested in andragogy (adult teaching), both as a teacher and a researcher. Dr. Madden has his DMA in Piano Performance and Pedagogy, University of Oklahoma; MM in Piano Pedagogy, Florida State University; MA in Music Theory/History, and BM in Piano Performance, Pennsylvania State University.
