Fountain City Brass Band, directed by UMKC Conservatory faculty Joseph Parisi, has won the 2019 U.S. Open Brass Band Championships. Many UMKC Conservatory faculty, students and alumni perform with FCBB.
Fountain City Brass Band also picked up awards for 'Most Entertaining,' 'Best Flugelhorn (Matthew Vangjel) ,' 'Best Baritone (Helen Tyler),' 'Best Euphonium (Matt van Emmerik),' 'Best Bass Section (Nate Gay, Thomas Stein, Brian Dobbins, Jamey Mitchell),' and 'Best Percussion Section (Theodore Musick, Jeff Seba, Karen Beth Sulzinski Sweat, Richard Sweat, Anna Thiele, Jennifer Wagner).
Congratulations also to the Fountain City Youth Brass Academy Band on its 4th place finish.
