Conservatory Musicology Faculty Alison DeSimone Wins UMKC Award

The UMKC Conservatory is pleased to announce that Assistant Professor of Musicology Dr. Alison DeSimone has been awarded the UMKC Trustees' Faculty Scholar Award, 2020.

This award, supported through the generosity of the UMKC Board of Trustees, carries a $5,000 stipend to be used at the awardee’s discretion. 

For more than four decades, the University of Missouri-Kansas City has benefited from the generous support of the UMKC Board of Trustees. This program, the UMKC Trustees’ Faculty Scholar Award, was established to recognize exceptional faculty members who show outstanding promise for future research and/or creative accomplishments.

Dr. DeSimone holds a Ph.D. in Historical Musicology from the University of Michigan (2013). Her research has been supported by grants and fellowships from the American Musicological Society, the American Handel Society, the Handel Institute, and the University of Missouri Research Board, among others. She is also an active harpsichordist in and around Kansas City.
