Composition Faculty Chen Yi's Active Summer

Chen Yi, Lorena Searcy Cravens/ Millsap/ Missouri Distinguished Professor of Composition, is always active in her field and her compositions are performed all over the world. In April 2020, she was one of the six Composer Panelists in Tulsa Chorale’s Finding Our Voices: A Virtual Evening with Leading Composers, moderated by Dr. Tim Sharp.

She was the Guest Composition Professor at the Mizzou International Composers Festival 2020, 7/27-31/2020, and gave public lectures, a master class, and composition lessons for eight fellow composers all on Zoom.

Her guitar solo work Shuo Chang was performed by Xuefei Yang in her double album Sketches of China, released on DECCA in all digital platforms globally on 8/7/2020. The work is also selected as the set piece for the 2021 Guitar Foundation of America International Competition.

Chen Yi's Fisherman’s Song for violin and piano was selected by Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) to the repertoire for Grade 8 examinations, 2020–23.
