Composition Student Lucy Shirley's Award

The UMKC Conservatory is pleased to note that first year MM composition student Lucy Shirley received the 2020 National Mu Phi Epsilon Musicology Award in the undergraduate category for her paper "Fauré and the Authenticity of Music: An examination of the composer's beliefs through his works."

She was featured on Composerstoolbox.com, August 2020 as one of the composers on the site's August Mixtape.

Shirley will be honored at the University of Indianapolis, October 2020 as the winner of its 2020 Honors Student of the Year. She was awarded for her senior thesis on the French literary and mathematics group The Oulipo and the way their ideas about creativity translate to musical composition.
