Welcome Dr. Christopher Beach, Visiting Assistant Professor of Music Therapy

Dr. Beach just completed the Ph.D. in Music Therapy from Florida State University this month, writing a dissertation titled “Exploring Therapeutic Techniques and Their Importance Among Music Therapists Working with Survivors of Trauma: A Mixed-Methods Analysis.” Chris has an extensive background working with mental health patients, as well as other patients in a wide variety of settings (e.g., elderly/nursing, children). As his dissertation title suggests, his current research centers on music therapy patients who have experienced all forms of trauma, about which he has given conference presentations and published papers. Chris also has a strong teaching background, which will serve him well working with our students. We are excited about the energy and fresh ideas he will bring to his work next year, as he engages with the music therapy students, faculty, and community.
