Dr. Ken Lidge Retires from the Conservatory

Dr. Ken Lidge, Associate Teaching Professor of Music Theory, will be retiring in May. Dr. Lidge has been a stalwart member of the core music theory faculty for nearly 40 years, teaching undergraduate musicianship/music theory/aural skills as well as music appreciation and graduate music theory review to generations of UMKC students. Dr. Lidge also received his DMA in Choral Conducting at UMKC, so his roots in the Conservatory go very deep. Beloved by his students, Dr. Lidge is a recipient of the Kauffman Excellence in Teaching Award, and will be remembered for his witty and unique theory jingles and mnemonic devices (ask him to share one). His big smile, positive attitude, and willingness to pitch in wherever needed in the theory area will be missed. We wish Dr. Lidge all the best in his retirement!
