This fall the Conservatory will be joined by new Assistant Professor of Production Design, Jeremy Smith. Jeremy brings to the Division of Theatre Faculty a wealth of experience in commercial, regional theatre, and film/television design.
Jeremy is a scenic designer, originally from Southeast Arkansas. He has worked on numerous productions including Broadway: Moulin Rouge! The Musical, MJ: The Musical, A Soldier’s Play; Off Broadway: Drift, Bob & Ted & Carol & Alice, Endlings; Film/TV: Legendary (starring Megan Thee Stallion, Leiomy, Law Roach, and Jameela Jamil), and FBI. In Kansas City he has designed sets for A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder, Annie, Memphis, Kinky Boots, Matilda, The Addams Family, Into the Woods, Surviving Hitler, and A Raisin in the Sun at the White Theatre, and most recently Big Love here at UMKC. Jeremy holds an MFA in Scenic Design from Indiana University, a BFA in Design and Technology with an emphasis in Scenic Design, and a minor in Studio Art from Arkansas State University.
