Composition Alum Narong Prangcharoen Wins American Academy of Arts and Letters Prize

The UMKC Conservatory is pleased to note that Narong Prangcharoen (DMA, composition 2010) has been awarded a 2021 Charles Ives Fellowship from the American Academy of Arts and Letters.

Harmony Ives, the widow of Charles Ives, bequeathed to the Academy the royalties of Charles Ives’s music, which has enabled the Academy to give awards in composition since 1970. Two Charles Ives Fellowships of $15,000 each and six Charles Ives Scholarships of $7,500 each will be awarded.

Dr. Prangcharoen has also received the 2013 Guggenheim Fellowship and the Barlow Prize, among other awards. He is the founder of the Thailand International Composition Festival.

Congratulations, Dr. Prangcharoen!
