The UMKC Conservatory is pleased to note that Luis Víquez (DMA, conducting, 2017) has won the 2021 Outstanding Young Music Educator Award from the South Dakota Music Education Association. He received the award October 30, 2021 during the South Dakota All-State Orchestra and Chorus concert at the Monument Civic Center in Rapid City.
Dr. Víquez is the Director of Orchestras and Assistant Professor of Clarinet at The University of South Dakota. He is also the 2019-2020 Winner of the President's Award for Research Creativity.
