UMKC Conservatory alum Nicholas Proctor (MME, 2010) who is a band teacher at Trail Ridge Middle School has been named USD 231 Secondary Teacher of the Year in the Gardner Edgerton School District. He previously taught in the Paola, KS School District. Nicholas now moves to the state level and participates in the KTOY selection process, which recognizes a Regional Finalist for each of the 8 regions in Kansas. From one of these a Kansas Teacher of the Year is selected. The Kansas Teacher of the Year is nominated to represent Kansas in the National Teacher of the Year Program.
