Piano Alum Kairy Koshoeva Wins First Prize in Russia

The UMKC Conservatory is pleased to note that Kairy Koshoeva (DMA, piano performance, 2010) who studied with retired Conservatory professor Robert Weirich has won first prize in the piano solo category at the Musica Classica international competition festival in Moscow, Russia. The festival was organized by the Gnessin Russian Academy of Music and dozens of international pianists submitted videos.

Koshoeva, who is originally from Kyrgyzstan, currently teaches at the New School for Music Study in Princeton, NJ. In 2019 she was awarded Teacher of the Year from the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto.
