The UMKC Conservatory is pleased to note that Selena Gonzalez-Lopez (MFA 2021) is selected as one of the six finalists for the 2022 Hemsley Lighting Internship. She will be interviewed in NYC by the selection committee on March 25, 2022 and will participate in the Hemsley Lighting Portfolio Review March 25–27.
The Hemsley lighting intern will have the opportunity to work with resident and guest designers at San Francisco Opera, New York City Ballet, and the Alvin Ailey Dance Theatre July 2022 to February 2023, with a $2750 month stipend. Selena is the eleventh finalist from UMKC in the past 22 years.
Since 2000, two UMKC lighting alumni have received the coveted Hemsley Lighting Internship and two more were runner ups.
