UMKC Conservatory Partners with 91.9 Classical KC

The UMKC Conservatory and 91.9 Classical KC are collaborating on Cadenza, an initiative in which Conservatory students who are working on specific compositions, composers, and important events in music history write about them and connect them to current events.

Ben Havey is a DMA piano student who has written the first article for Cadenza on George Crumb, who just passed away in early February 2022. Ben examines Crumb's work and influence. He will present his DMA recital March 9, 7:30 p.m. in Grant Recital Hall, which will include work by Crumb.

Interim Dean Andrew Granade notes, "Since Classical KC began, the Conservatory has been looking for a way to collaborate with the station. Cadenza allows our students to share their research and work with the Classical KC audience and is hopefully just the first step in a long partnership."
