Freshman and transfer domestic and international applicants

Music and Dance programs

The application for Conservatory degree programs in Music and Dance includes several specific requirements.

  • Artistic resume or CV: Please list all relevant music or dance experience such as ensembles, schools, teachers, performances and awards.
  • Two references: List the names and contact information of your references, and the application system will send an email to them requesting that they submit a letter of recommendation on your behalf. Letters of recommendation must be received by Feb. 1.
  • Audition date selection: All undergraduate Music and Dance applications require a live audition. You must select one of the three scheduled audition dates on the application. If you are unavailable for any of these dates, please contact cadmissions@umkc.edu
  • Other materials as they apply to your desired program, such as:
    • Bachelor of Music in Composition applicants submit a composition portfolio. Scores and videos can be uploaded directly to the application. Those who pass the composition evaluation will be invited to perform an audition.
    • Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance applicants submit a dance photo by uploading it to the application.
    • Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance applicants submit a list of previously studied repertoire.

Theatre program

Applicants for the bachelor's degree in Theatre do not need to submit a resume and references or select an audition date. Entry to this program does not require an audition.

Transcripts and test scores from domestic undergraduate students may be sent in after the December Conservatory application deadline but must be received by UMKC Admissions by Feb. 1. Transcripts are considered official if they are received in a sealed envelope or sent electronically to the Office of Admissions through Parchment, National Student Clearing House, SCOIR or eScrip-Safe.
