Conservatory Trombone Faculty JoDee Davis Receives Grant

The UMKC Conservatory is pleased to announce that Dr. JoDee Davis has been awarded a University of Missouri Research Board Grant for "Commissioning and Recording New Music for Trombone." The project will include the commissioning of new works by Jennifer Higdon, (a UMKC Conservatory Barr Institute Laureate) Victoria Bond, and Paul Rudy. These will be the first works for trombone and piano by these renowned composers. Conservatory faculty member Patricia Higdon will be the pianist.

Important to the project are the collaborations between UMKC faculty and UMKC recording engineer Robert Beck. The UMKC Art Department will also be included: students in the graphic design and photography departments will create the compact disc jacket. The recording will be released on the Albany Records label.

Congrats!
